About Us
Hi, I'm Nick
How Meadowlands Bookkeeping is Changing the Game for Small Businesses
Some people fall into their careers by chance; others follow a well-laid path. For Nick Buttiglieri, founder of Meadowlands Bookkeeping, his journey into accounting was both a logical step and a personal mission. Coming of age in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, he saw accounting as a way to bring clarity to a chaotic financial world. But while numbers may have been his starting point, his real passion lay in the stories behind them.
“I didn’t just want to crunch numbers—I wanted to understand the business and help make decisions that pushed it forward,” he says.
After earning a degree in Accounting and Finance from Sacred Heart University, Nick explored different facets of the industry, from public accounting to corporate finance to product management. Each role shaped his perspective, making him see business not as isolated functions, but as a living, breathing entity.
It was this realization—paired with his entrepreneurial spirit—that led him to start Meadowlands Bookkeeping.
More Than Just the Numbers
At its core, Meadowlands Bookkeeping isn’t just about balancing books—it’s about empowering small business owners. “A lot of small business owners are great at working in their business, but working on their business is much harder,” Nick explains. “They wait all year to figure out if they made or lost money when it’s time to file their taxes. But they need up-to-date financials to make informed decisions.”
His approach is different. It’s not just about keeping records—it’s about giving business owners clarity and confidence. It’s also deeply personal. “I really care about the businesses I work with. It might sound corny, but having someone believe in you and your business creates a partnership, not just a client relationship.”
Beyond Business: The Man Behind the Mission
Of course, Nick is more than just an accountant and entrepreneur. First and foremost, he’s a family man. Married to his wife, Liz, for nearly eight years, and a father to Calla, who’s quickly growing into a toddler, and their dog Winnie. He sees entrepreneurship as a way to create not just financial stability, but freedom—the ability to be there for his daughter as she grows.
When he’s not helping clients or spending time with family, you can find him on the jiu-jitsu mats, embracing the grind. “Jiu-jitsu is the perfect analogy for life. There’s no quick fix. The only thing that matters is time on the mats. You can’t get ahead without putting in the work and taking risks.”
That mindset of resilience, discipline, and embracing discomfort is something he applies to both business and life. “We have a saying in jiu-jitsu: You have to get comfortable being uncomfortable. If that isn’t the perfect analogy for business, I don’t know what is.”
